SA’s ABSA Premiership clubs jostle for Dynamos’s Epoupa

December 1 2017 – DYNAMOS chairman Keni Mubaiwa has revealed that officials from ABSA Premiership sides were in the country to negotiate for a possible January transfer move for Christian Epoupa.
The Cameroonian’s performance in the just ended season has attracted interest from several clubs in South Africa. He scored 12 goals and is among the best 11 footballers of the season selected on Tuesday.

According to NewsDay, Bidvest Wits and Polokwane City sent their officials few days ago to negotiate for the striker.

Mubaiwa confirmed the development in an interview with the newspaper.

“A number of clubs from South Africa have made contact for Christian. Some were here in the past few days for negotiations and others have been talking to us through the phone,” Mubaiwa said.

“We have not agreed with anyone because of the price. We have put our value on the player, which the teams are saying they cannot meet. The good thing on our part is that we are not desperate to sell, so we will try to get the full value of what we think our player is worth.”

However, an unnamed source told the newspaper that the player is close to join Bidvest Wits.

“He is likely to leave next week for Bidvest. He is currently sorting his travelling documents and the chances of him joining the club are 90%. They have watched videos of him and were impressed. They have invited him for trials just as a formality, but the deal is as good as done unless another team comes with a really better offer,” said the source. – Soccer 24
